Participants are invited to gain a basic understanding of the clinical, neuroimaging and neuropathological assessments used to diagnose common neurodegenerative disorders.
13:00 - 15:00
Great Gable Seminar Room, 1st Floor Biomedical Research Building,
Campus for Ageing and Vitality, Newcastle University
The workshop will consist of the presentations of two cases that have previously been enrolled in various clinical studies at the Campus for Ageing and Vitality and subsequently donated their brain to the Newcastle Brain Tissue Resource.
You will be given a step-by-step overview of the case clinical history, neuropsychiatric testing, neuroimaging findings and the overall clinical diagnosis. Following on, you will be given an overview of the neuropathological findings for the case and the final consensus clinico-pathological diagnosis will be revealed and discussed.
Old Age Psychiatrist Dr Paul Donaghy will present the clinical and neuroimaging information, and neuropathological information will be presented by Dr Kirsty McAleese and Dr Lauren Walker.
