Event date: Sunday 14 June 2020

Euromit 2020, the 11th Euromit conference on Mitochondrial Pathology, is to be held at the iconic Sage Gateshead from 14th to 17th June 2020. This major mitochondrial meeting sees global leaders in the field of mitochondrial research coming together with over 650 academic delegates and over 100 patient delegates to share recent advances in clinical and basic scientific aspects of mitochondrial biology and disease.

In addition to the main scientific programme there are three opportunities for specific groups to be involved: early career researchers, clinicians and patients and their families/carers.

Early career researchers

Early career researchers are invited to participate in a special Euromit 2020 satellite meeting being held on Saturday 13th June at Newcastle University. This will provide an invaluable opportunity to present your work in a relaxed environment to your peers. It will also provide an opportunity to network informally and build links with fellow early career researchers.

Career clinicians

On Saturday 13th June as part of Euromit 2020 we are hosting the inaugural ‘Mitochondrial Disease Clinical Training Course’. This one-day event is aimed at early career clinicians keen to know more about mitochondrial medicine. Training is taking place within the cutting-edge medical training facilities that are part of Newcastle University and the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This meeting will provide a valuable opportunity to learn more about the neuropathology, diagnosis and management of mitochondrial disease and network with fellow international early career clinicians.

Patients and carers

As part of Euromit 2020, we are bringing together patients and carers for a dedicated patient day. This will be an oportunity to hear about the latest research developments and to meet with other people affected by mitochondrial disease. The programme for this event along with details about how to register will be available in January.
