Our WHO Collaborating Centre in Nutrition and Oral Health was established in August 1996 by its Founder, Andrew Rugg-Gunn (Emeritus Professor, Newcastle University). It is now in its 21st year and continues with its mission to assist the WHO by providing advice on nutrition and oral health and collaborating through research and scholarship.
To mark its 21st year, Newcastle University has organised a celebratory symposium on Monday 23rd July at BMA House in Central London, just prior to the annual conference of the International Association for Dental Research. The theme of the occasion is ‘Achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals through Nutrition and Oral Health’.
We have attracted delegates from all over the world and have renowned speakers including Dr Benoit Varenne, Oral Health Officer at WHO Non-Communicable Disease Programme, Prof Srinath Reddy, President of the Public Health Foundation, India, and Prof Jim Mann Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre in Nutrition, University of Otago, New Zealand.
We are live streaming the symposium and celebrating the excellent research with a local event in Newcastle.
It will take place between 12:00 and 17:00 on the 23rd July in G21/G22 Devonshire Building, Newcastle University.
Register for the local event at Newcastle University.
