I want to learn about research

The healthcare we have today is built on years of research and medical discoveries. Health research findings are used to treat us when we are ill and helps to find answers to particular health conditions such as dementia or cancer. Health research seeks to discover new knowledge that will help us to improve our health. This means that research, whether we are aware of it or not, affects us all.

In this section you will find out how people like you are getting involved in research and how it benefits them and how it may also benefit you. This section will also explain the types of health research the NIHR Newcastle BRC does and some of the exciting medical findings we have helped discover.

Below, one of our NIHR Newcastle BRC-funded students, Jadine Scragg, talks about the value of involving patients in her research; describing both benefits for patient outcomes and research findings.
