Connecting the public and patients with research
The NIHR Newcastle BRC aims to build on and harness experimental medicine in individual long-term conditions, to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of ageing syndromes such as sarcopenia, frailty and multi-morbidity. Our research themes are focussed on six key areas; dementia, liver disease, musculoskeletal disease, skin and oral disease and ageing syndromes.
Our strategy is based on valuing and maximising the involvement, engagement and participation of patients and the public, who are central to our partnership in delivering patient-focused translational research throughout these themes.
One of the ways we do this is through the Research and Innovation Matters events. These events are open to everyone from the public, patients, researchers and staff from the University or health care services. They include news about the latest developments in specific disease areas, welcoming input from the audience throughout. They are designed to bring research and advances in patient care to a wide audience.
If you are a researcher or clinician and would like to find out more about hosting a Matters event, please contact us.
