Professor Andy Fisher plays a vital role within the Strategic Management team of the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre, as the Academic Director for Training. He is also a member of the Training Strategy Group, within which he contributes to the overall strategic direction of NIHR Newcastle BRC training, and ensures close links with other elements of NIHR Training infrastructure.
In his own research, Professor Fisher covers basic, translational and clinical studies into the aetiology, mechanisms, prognosis and therapeutics of inflammatory and fibrotic diseases across a range of organs. He is Dean of Clinical Medicine and Professor of Respiratory Transplant Medicine in the Newcastle University Translational and Clinical Research Institute.
