Dr Lisa Robinson completed her part-time in-practice PhD at Northumbria University whilst working as a senior research physiotherapist in the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre. Lisa’s research employed a qualitatively-driven mixed methods approach to develop a framework for physiotherapy practice to promote self-management and adherence with exercise-based falls prevention programmes. Lisa is currently employed as Consultant Allied Health Professional by Newcastle Hospitals. In this post, she divides her time equally between clinical leadership of a major trauma rehabilitation service and research / practice development.
Lisa is passionate about promoting and advancing the visibility and impact of nurses, midwives and allied health professionals (NMAHPs) across the entire research landscape – from research delivery to clinical academia – with the ultimate aim of providing high-quality care across the patient pathway. As the first Consultant Allied Health Professional to be appointed by the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Lisa acts as a coach, mentor and positive role model to NMAHP colleagues wishing to develop their research skills in a clinical setting.
