Dr Richard Dodds is a Principal Investigator in the Ageing Syndromes Theme, working on a project entitled ‘Muscle Ageing and Sarcopenia Study Lifecourse (MASS_Lifecourse)’.
Richard is an Intermediate Clinical Fellow supported by the NIHR Newcastle BRC, an Honorary Consultant at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and part of the AGE Research Group, led by Professor Avan Sayer. Before coming to Newcastle, he combined specialty training in Geriatric Medicine and research, including a PhD as a Wellcome Trust Research Training Fellow. His main research area is the life course approach to sarcopenia, including the mechanisms involved in the loss of muscle strength and mass in mid-life and old age.
