Linda is the Trust Lead for NMAHP Research at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals. Her role involves leading the NMAHP Research agenda on behalf of the Chief Nurse’s team by facilitating policy and strategy enablers to benefit the development of the NMAHP research agenda across the trust. This includes developing training and support programmes, working closely with and supporting clinical staff, driving a culture of curiosity, research awareness and research literacy to ultimately benefit patients.
Linda’s PhD, funded by the RCN Strategic Research Alliance at the University Of Sheffield, is exploring the barriers and facilitators to research, experienced at the interface between clinical research delivery and clinical practice.
Linda is a qualified and active coach with an interest in Leadership in the NHS, a Florence Nightingale Scholar and is one of the NIHR 70@70 Senior Nurse Leaders.
Linda’s interest in research training is linked to the fundamental benefits that patients and staff gain from building Research capacity, capability, curiosity and confidence in our Nurses Midwives and AHPs. Seeing staff develop their abilities, awareness and confidence is incredibly rewarding. This ultimately helps us to drive a culture of curiosity and continuously strive to achieve best practice at the trust, attracting and retaining our most talented staff and developing future leaders in research
