I am a gastroenterology trainee at Health Education England Northeast. I am taking two years out of the programme to carry out research, which will progress to my MD.
My research project is related to cognitive impairment in primary biliary cholangitis.

I have completed my core medical training in Yorkshire Deanery before I started my specialty training program me in gastroenterology and hepatology in Northeast region. I finished 2nd year of the registrar training before coming off to do researches at Newcastle University.
My research focuses on the cognitive impairment in PBC. The symptom has a great impact in quality of life and social circumstances. Understanding of pathogenesis and mechanism is important as it would allow directing for future therapeutic clinical trials.
It is very fortunate to being part of NIHR. I have got opportunities to go the research training, networking with people and have the team which is supportive.
