Understanding patient preferences in neuromuscular disease
Neuromuscular Disease theme lead contributes to a vital paper that revealed results from a large patient preference study.
Grainne Gorman, Professor of Neurology at Newcastle University and Director of the Wellcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research (WCMR) also leads the NIHR Newcastle BRC’s Neuromuscular Disease theme.
Alongside colleagues from the WCMR and academic institutions across the globe, Professor Gorman has contributed to a study that focusses on the preferences of patients with Neuromuscular Disorders, as part of a PREFER initiative. The study targeted rare disease groups through an international collaboration between patient organisations, and is seen as an essential step in helping to inform the drug development process and support the development of new treatments for rare, but serious conditions.
