Dr Chris Hurst is a postdoctoral research associate in lifestyle and health, based in the AGE Research Group. He is also a British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) accredited sport and exercise scientist.
Chris joined Newcastle University in August 2018 following a year spent as a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences at Durham University. The early part of his career was focused on improving sports performance across a range of athletic populations before transitioning to apply these principles and experiences with older people during his PhD.
His research aims to understand the role of lifestyle behaviours including diet, exercise, and physical activity, on health. He looks at muscular health and physical performance in older adults including those living with frailty and multiple long-term health conditions.
