Biomedical Research Building
We are based at the Newcastle Biomedical Research Building a purpose-built site dedicated to improving healthcare for older people.
The Biomedical Research Building is home to the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre as well as ageing research labs, businesses, and one of the country’s first Clinics for Research and Service in Themed Assessments (CRESTA); an NHS facility for patients.
For clinicians and scientists working on research here, the broad range of facilities available provide an excellent platform for creative interaction; putting patients and the public at the heart of research.

Health innovation neighbourhood
The Biomedical Research Building sits on a site that includes the former Newcastle General Hospital.
Newcastle University and partners have a vision to turn this 29-acre brownfield site into the UK’s first health innovation neighbourhood.
This health innovation neighbourhood will be where world class research interweaves with a vibrant, mixed-use community. A place where research comes together with business, government and people to shape the future of health and ageing.
